Using the new Rikon Midi lathe and the slow speed grinder, we will review the use and sharpening of the Make 717 spindle turning tools. Each tool will be discussed and demonstrated. Attendees will then work with the tools to turn their own pen barrels shapes.

Stabilized pen blanks and kit parts will be provided.

The use of the following tools and how to sharpen them will be presented and practiced:

Spindle Roughing Gouge
Standard skew chisel (10 different cuts)
Parting tool
Spindle Gouge
At the end of the session the student will take home a student made ball point pen.
Free hand sharpening will be demonstrated as well as the use of Wolverine Sharpening Jig. Should you own turning tools take them along for use or sharpening.
