The make717 community is  coordinating with representatives of the local medical community and Fenner Precision Polymers of Manheim to produce tested and approved 3D printed parts that can be used in hospitals and other medical environments, to address the shortage of needed protection equipment. We are now seeking members to start 3D printing the needed parts using your own equipment.

In cooperation with Fenner  we will provide printing materials and settings for your 3D printer as well as serve as a distribution hub for the resulting parts. These parts will have passed testing for use in the medical environment based on the designs and settings we will provide to you.

make717 members having a 3D printer and the available time and skills to produce parts must register on the make717 website, so we can begin organizing the volunteers to be involved in this important event. You will receive an email within 24 hours after registration with follow up questions or additional instructions.

Involvement will be based on your printer capabilities and your commitment of time. We will try to involve all members that can be handled and have the equipment and skills to achieve the print quality required. Please understand that all parts produced are likely to be inspected and subject to approval by make717, Fenner and the end customer.  This is a requirement for maintaining safe use of parts in the final product. Materials will be shipped to you and all instructions and files will be sent for the parts you need to make as well as instructions for returning printed parts.

We understand that members of make717 may not have a 3D printer at home but may be still interested in helping.  As we progress on this project we are likely to send out further requests as needs develop.
